Welcome to the Madison Youth Wrestling Program - we are looking forward to a great 2018/2019 season!
All dates and times (matches, practices, etc.) will be shared with parents via Teamsnap. Parents will self-roster this year so all will be automatically registered in Teamsnap.
We offer three levels of participation:
***Our Pre-Clinic Program is for our youngest wrestlers who want to have a fun experience while getting a "feel" for the sport. More information is at the Pre-Clinic tab of this website.
***Our Clinic Program Provides an opportunity for 2nd through 6th grade wrestlers to get their first taste of competition against wrestlers from other towns.
2nd graders entering their first year of wrestling should sign up for Pre-Clinic. 2nd graders entering their second or third year of wrestling should sign up for the Clinic Program.
3rd-6th graders who did not participate in the Future Stars end of year tournament should start out in the Clinic program, unless otherwise directed by the coaching staff.
Some Clinic wrestlers may be moved to the Dodger Program on a part-time or full-time basis as the season progresses.
Opportunities to compete will come in two forms: The King of the Mat League (KOM) and the Future Stars League. We encourage most wrestlers with 1-3 years of experience to compete in the KOM events (Saturdays TBD), as league rules prohibit participation from more experienced wrestlers. Wrestlers that DO have a bit more experience will compete in the Future Stars events. The Future Stars Roster will be compiled as the season progresses, and families will be notified as their children are added. Most Future Stars Competitions will take place during the week. Both the KOM and Future Stars Leagues will culminate in February with a weekend tournament.
CLINIC PRACTICES: Beginning on Monday, 11/12 @ practices will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Madison High School wrestling room.
***Our Dodger Program is open to wrestlers in 1st through 8th grade, though the majority of them will be in grades 4-8. Similar to a high school format, some dodger participants will wrestle as "starters" or "varsity" in our Northern New Jersey Youth Wrestling League matches. Others will be back-ups or "JV" and compete in our Future Stars League. Some will do both. Both of these teams will compete in dual meets (home and away) and participate in 2-3 weekend tournaments. If your child was on the dodger team last year, or if he competed (or was invited to compete) in the end of the year Future Stars tournament (in Hackettstown, NOT Morristown), please sign him up for the Dodger Program. If you are unsure which program to select, please contact us!
DODGER PRACTICES: Beginning on Wednesday, 11/7 practices will run from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays in the Madison High School wrestling room.
